“Rosetta” twenty years later: Reunion with the Dardennes, Émilie Dequenne and Fabrizio Rongione

Twenty years ago, filmmakers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival with “Rosetta,” one of their early features, and the film’s leading actress Émilie Dequenne won the Festival’s Best Actress award. Since then, they all had successful careers in French-language cinema, and even now, they’re all going stronger than ever before.

To celebrate this anniversary, the Brussels International Film Festival had reunited them at the Brussels Palace theater to introduce a screening of “Rosetta,” along with actor Fabrizio Rongione, and they shared memories and reminisced about the making of the film and the importance and the impact of “Rosetta” on all four of them.

Here are stills of the event—the red carpet followed by the Q&A—with the French audio of their introduction at the bottom of this post.
